Connecting Xero
WatsonOS connects to each client’s Xero organisation individually. You connect each client once — after that, WatsonOS syncs automatically every night.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- A WatsonOS account (sign up at usewatson.app)
- The client’s Xero organisation must be active, Australian, and using AUD as the base currency
- Adviser-level access to the client’s Xero organisation
How to connect a client
Section titled “How to connect a client”- Go to Clients → Add Client or Settings → Connections → Add Client
- You’ll be redirected to Xero’s authorisation screen — log in with an account that has adviser access to this client
- Select the client’s Xero organisation and click Allow Access
- WatsonOS will ask you to confirm the client’s PAYG Withholding method (Xero doesn’t expose this via their API)
- The initial sync begins — this pulls the full history of the Xero file and may take some time depending on transaction volume
- Once complete, the client appears on your dashboard
Data WatsonOS reads from Xero
Section titled “Data WatsonOS reads from Xero”WatsonOS asks for read-only access to your clients’ Xero data. It never requests permission to create or change anything in Xero. The data it reads includes ledger and transaction data, invoices, bills, bank transactions, payroll data (if Xero Payroll is active), organisation settings, contacts, and chart of accounts.
